It was a long ceremony in really hot weather... but everyone helped without complaining. Everybody was holding a little one at some point through the morning. And I think after looking through the photos that Wanna managed to sit & be held by every single one!
Not only did they provide the things necessary to make the service special... they also got everything ready. They ironed gowns, sized & handed them out, wrapped gifts, wrote notes in the Bibles they presented, baked cakes & prepared refreshments, and generally helped set up & organize.
Each graduating 5th grader was presented with a Bible and a "Diploma" or Certificate of Completion & Promotion.
It was very emotional for all of us. David was proud as a papa to see Marie Joe, now 18, achieving this accomplishment and growing into the beautiful young woman that she is. He has watched her grow up since he met her when he 1st came to Haiti when she was just 8 years old.
The teachers were recognized and presented with a gift of an English Bible....
... and treated to a reception with refreshments to thank them for all their hard work !
